At Covert Ops Field the Streator Reds outscored the Palatine Cubs in 11
innings 4 to 1.
The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings. Streator came out on top
in the 11th inning. Alex Gordon led off and keyed the rally when he slapped
a single. Chase Headley stepped up next and he drew a walk. Chris Iannetta
then drew a walk to load the bases. Jim Johnson then uncorked a pitch that
was ruled a passed ball. Geovany Soto came up to bat and laced a base-knock.
Anthony Gose extended the rally and grounded into a double play. Eric Young
Jr followed and he doubled. Both teams totaled 9 hits on the night.
Louis Coleman(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3
innings. Coleman got relief help from Craig Kimbrel who gained credit for his
5th save. Matt Albers(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief. He was not
very effective, surrendering 3 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
