David Robertson shut Tombstone down as the Vernon Hillbillies defeated the
Tombstone Huckleberries by the score of 6 to 4 at The O.K. Corral.
Vernon jumped out to the early lead in the first inning scoring one runner.
After an out was recorded, Jason Kipnis drew a walk. Matt Holliday next to
the plate and he drew a walk. Coco Crisp then doubled. Russell Martin
struck out, unable to help the rally. Mike Carp stepped into the box and was
walked intentionally to load the bases. Robertson earned the save with a
perfect ninth, his 1st save.
Bronson Arroyo(1-1) went 7 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Ian
Kennedy(1-1) was charged with the loss. 'He gutted it out' John Stryker said
of Arroyo. 'I was very impressed by his tenacity.'
