Eric Chavez smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Dan Haren reeled off a total
of 10 strikeouts as the Glen Oaks Bombers clobbered the outmatched
floundering Chicago Colts, 14 to 4.
Chavez had a good evening at the plate. He ripped a one-base hit in the 2nd
inning, laced a single in the 4th inning, stroked a base-hit in the 6th
inning, cracked a two-run shot in the 7th inning and blasted a solo shot in
the 8th inning. Glen Oaks provided plenty of action in the 7th inning when
they had 6 runs on 6 hits. Chicago was out-hit by Glen Oaks, 25 hits to 15.
Haren(10-11) got the win allowing 3 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. The losing
pitcher was Tim Hudson(11-13). Rich Domovic was impressed with Haren and his
10 strikeouts. 'It's tough to generate runs if you can't make contact with
the ball.'
