The DeKalb Zeitgeist came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil the
anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score,, was 8 to
6.
DeKalb scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning when they
tallied 5 runs on 4 hits. The highlight belonged to Wilin Rosario who
silenced the stadium when he doubled emptying the bases. DeKalb managed 13
hits in their victory.
The winning pitcher was Joe Smith(8-2) who allowed 1 run in 2/3 of an inning.
Alexi Ogando(2-5) was the loser in relief. Steve Seydell was feeling mighty
fine as he answered questions in his office after the game, 'Now that was one
fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just sat there in silence after the
winning run scored? Here we are celebrating wildly, and the stadium is
cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'
