One run was the difference at The Horseshoe as the very strong DeKalb
Zeitgeist defeated the pitiful Columbus Crowd 3 to 2.
DeKalb won the game with a run in the top of the 8th inning. After two were
out Garrett Jones drew a walk. Martin Prado stepped up next and he doubled.
Ryan Doumit then laced a base-hit. Columbus made it exciting in the 9th, but
they were unable to push the needed runs across.
The win was credited to Jake Peavy(13-8) who went 7 innings allowing 2 runs.
Peavy got help from Drew Storen who was credited with his 7th save. Josh
Roenicke(1-12) was tagged with the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 run and
1 hit in 2/3 of an inning.
'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them' Frank Lopeman said. 'We did
what we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'
