Third baseman Miguel Cabrera had 2 base hits as the Tombstone Huckleberries
defeated the Streator Reds in 10 innings by the score of 3 to 2 at The O.K.
Corral.
The run-column was full of goose eggs at the end of nine full innings.
Tombstone won the hard fought contest in the 10th inning. Emilio Bonifacio
led off and started the attack as he stroked a single. Marco Scutaro came
next and he drew a walk. Cabrera then laced a base-hit. Carlos Ruiz was
next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Allen Craig came to the
plate and doubled. Jordan Pacheco kept things alive and was walked
intentionally to load the bases. Mike Napoli followed next and he drew a
walk. Tombstone managed only 6 hits on the night.
The win was credited to Jose Valverde(3-1) who went 2/3 of an inning allowing
no runs. Ryan Cook(2-3) absorbed the loss in relief. He gave up 3 runs and 3
hits in 1/3 of an inning.
The Tombstone ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 31-25. With
the loss Streator now has a record of 28-28.
