B.J. Upton launched 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the California Luv beat the
Columbus Crowd by a score of 15 to 12.
Upton had a big evening at the plate. He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in
the 2nd inning, stroked a one-base hit which brought home a run in the 3rd
inning, ripped a base-hit in the 7th inning and clubbed a three-run home run
in the 8th inning. California bats were very productive in the 6th inning
with 4 runs on 4 hits and the 8th inning when they had 6 runs on 7 hits.
California had 20 hits for the night while Columbus had 15.
The win went to Derek Lowe(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in 1 inning. Lowe got help
from Garrett Richards who was credited with his 1st save. Jeremy Hefner(1-1)
was the loser in relief.
