Justin Verlander dominated striking out 11 Tampico batters as the Yuma Desert
Rats topped the Tampico Stogies by a score of 2 to 1 at the
ballpark.
Verlander(9-10) put on a good performance. He was stingy on the mound,
allowing just 4 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. Tampico threatened in the 9th
but their rally came up short.
Dillon Gee earned the save, his 4th. Ted Lilly(8-7) was given the loss.
Brian Anderson was asked about the performance of Verlander, 'He had his good
stuff out there tonight. The fans really get into it when the strikeouts
start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more adrenalin.'
