One run was the difference at the ballpark as the SSB Tar Heels defeated the
Dyersville Jurassics 3 to 2.
SSB did all of it's offensive work in the 7th inning scoring 3 runs on 4 base
hits. Mike Moustakas led off and he singled. Peter Bourjos came to the
plate and doubled. Tony Gwynn Jr then lined a base-hit. After an out was
recorded, Orlando Hudson came to the plate and doubled. Dexter Fowler was a
strikeout victim, unable to help out. Dyersville had a chance to come back
in the 9th but they came up short.
Daniel Bard(4-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Craig
Kimbrel was credited with his 19th save. Chris Volstad(5-3) was given the
loss. He allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
'We won because we did the little things right.' Craig Ahrndt said after the
game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get
in close games we don't make mistakes.'
