The SSB Tar Heels defeated the Detroit Iron Gloves by a score of 6 to 3 at
Edsel Stadium.
SSB had the winning rally in the top of the 8th inning when they tallied 4
runs on 2 hits. The big moment was provided by Jason Kipnis who deflated the
spirits of the home town crowd when he lofted a three-run 'big-fly'. SSB
totaled 8 hits on the night.
John Axford(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Craig
Kimbrel recorded the save, his 10th. Homer Bailey(3-2) was the losing
pitcher.
