In a tight game it was the Nimrod Numnuts 6, the SSB Tar Heels 4 at Stigman's
Mound.
Nimrod brought 4 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 4th inning when
they came up with 4 base hits. The highlight belonged to David Ross who
brought a roar from the partisan Stigman's Mound fans when he smashed a
two-run homer. Nimrod finished with 12 hits while SSB ended up with 9.
Zack Greinke(2-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing
3 runs. Greinke got help from Henry Rodriguez who earned his 2nd save. Doug
Fister(1-2) took the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 6 runs in
5 and 1/3 innings.
'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Mark Salzwedel said after the game. 'Greinke did not have
command of his pitches most of the night, but he proved he really knew how to
pitch!'
