The Detroit Iron Gloves offense put up 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 5th
inning and nipped the Caracas Leones 5 to 4 at Edsel Stadium in a hard fought
contest.
Detroit brought 4 runs across the plate in the 5th inning when they came up
with 4 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Jay Bruce who made the
Detroit fans a happy lot when he clubbed a two-run home run. Caracas had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Jaime Garcia(3-0) got the win allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Garcia got
help from Francisco Rodriguez who earned his 3rd save. Shaun Marcum(1-2)
ended up with the loss.
'Some losses are harder to take than others' Alan Dyche lamented after the
game. 'This was one of them.'
