Edwin Jackson allowed Adam Smith to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
as the Dublin Pubcrawlers rallied impressively to win in dramatic style over
SSB Tar Heels, 5 to 4.
Dublin came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning plating 2 runs. Ian
Desmond led off the inning for Dublin when he drew a walk. After an out was
recorded, Joe Mauer stepped in and he blasted a two-run home run resulting in
an exciting win for Dublin and a wild post-game celebration by the home town
fans. Dublin totaled 7 hits on the night.
Jackson(4-3) allowed 4 runs on the game. Brad Lidge(0-1) absorbed the loss in
relief. Jackson and Mauer were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after
the great come from behind victory. As Adam Smith noted, 'A win like this
one can do wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the
fans, the players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen
runs!'
