The Egham Raiders and the Nimrod Numnuts locked up in an exciting one-run game
at Englefield Green. The final score was the Egham Raiders 7, the Nimrod
Numnuts 6.
Egham came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning with 2 runs on
2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Franklin Gutierrez keyed the rally
when he stroked a base-hit. Nick Hundley followed and he doubled. Jeff
Francoeur followed, but he was set down on strikes. Takashi Saito then threw
a wild pitch. Lyle Overbay came up to bat and reached on an error. Laynce
Nix added to the rally and drew a walk. The game was a wild affair with the
lead changing hands 6 times.
The victory went to Ramon Ramirez(1-0) who went 2/3 of an inning, allowing no
runs. Jonathan Broxton earned the save, his 4th. Saito(1-2) was the loser in
relief.
