Submitting .MGR Manager Files
Before configuring your manager in the Strat Computer game, make sure that you
have downloaded and extracted the latest ZIP file so that you are using the
latest Roster files.
Extracting the ZIP
To install the latest rosters and stats from the ZIP file,
shut down the Strat
game, then extract the contents of the ZIP file to
your CDROMBB\ installation folder. It does not matter where you put the ZIP
file when you download it. In fact, you do not necessarily need to save it to
your hard drive, you can just open it right off of the
link on the web site.
After you open the ZIP, all that you have to do is click the
extract button, and then either browse or type in the path to your CDROMBB
folder, and click Extract on the dialog. The image below illustrates these
steps for when the installation folder is C:\CDROMBB\. Note that your
installation folder may vary depending on what you chose when you installed the
game.
If you do these steps correctly, then you will get a
"Confirm File Overwite" dialog. Just click
the "Yes to All" button to overwrite the
existing files. Then start the game back up. You will see a league called “2003
Greater Chicago” listed. MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE THIS LEAGUE TO SUBMIT YOUR
MANAGER MATERIAL AND NOT ANY OTHER LEAGUE (such as the one distributed by Steve
at the start of the year or any duplicate copies you might have made)!
Submit Roster Changes
and Pitching Rotations by the 9th
For the manager material that is due by the 9th of each
month, go into the 2003 Greater Chicago league, pick on your team and then from
the menu:
- Pick
Team > Promote/Demote Minor Leaguers… and then check the players that
you want to be in the majors for the month and uncheck the ones who will
be in the minors. Make sure that you end up with 25 eligible players total
in the majors then click OK. Remember that roster changes are due on the
9th of each month. You cannot make roster changes when submitting lineups
on the 24th. I do check and compare the rosters submitted on the 9th with
those submitted on the 24th and if they do not match I get angry.
- Pick
Team > Update Computer Manager, then switch the Category to Starter
Schedule. You can set your starter schedule by dragging the starter’s name
from the column on the left onto the scheduled game listed on the right.
Be careful because the schedule can be confusing because it lists a
calendar date starting with 4/1/2003
whereas the team schedules on the web go by our current month and game
number. If you want, you can also provide a separate list of your pitcher
assignments because I will double check the starter schedules and make
sure they are correct. When you are finished make sure you select Save.
The above two items are the only things due by the 9th of
each month. If you want, however, you can also make additional changes to your
manager profile as listed below for the 24th.
After you finish setting up all of your manager material,
pick Team > Export Computer Manager from the menu. Leave the key set to 0
(unlocked) and click OK. Save the .MGR file with an appropriate name and in a
location where you can find it, then browse to that location and email your
.MGR file to me. The .MGR file contains your complete major/minor league list
as well as all of your computer manager settings and lineup information. It is
the only thing that you need to submit on or before the 9th.
Submit Player
Settings and Manager Tendency Changes and Lineups by the 24th
For the manager material that is due by the 24th of each
month, go into the 2003 Greater Chicago league, pick on your team and then:
- From
the menu pick Team > Update Computer Manager… then for the Pitchers
Category make sure assign your Setup men and
Closers (if desired). Left double click on a pitcher in the list to set
their individual settings such as Max 6 IP for start, etc, and finally
click on the Super Hal button at the lower left if you want to use Super
Hal bullpen management.
- While
still on the Update Computer Manager dialog, switch to the Batters
Category and set your pinch hitters, pinch runner, and defensive
replacements. Left double click on a batter in the list to set their
individual settings such as Don’t Bunt, Steal More, etc.
- While
still on the Update Computer Manager dialog, switch to the Manager
Tendencies Category and set all of your tendencies such as Using Relief
and Min % To Steal, etc. Then finally change to the Super Hal Baserunning Category and set the percentages there, if
desired. You can simply leave them as N/A to use the game default
percentages.
- When
you are all done updating your computer manager, make sure you select
Save. Then from the menu Pick Team > Update Default Lineups… and set up
to five lineups. Remember that Lineup 1 is the default vs. LHP and Lineup
2 is the default vs. RHP. Also please Clear any
lineups that you will not be using as that lowers the chance that one of
them could be used by mistake. After you have all of the lineups setup
that you want to use, make sure that you click OK. NOTE: do not bother
with the Super Hal button on the Lineup dialog. The Super Hal Lineup subs
are only used in a draft mode league to give players rest with automatic
lineups. Since we use manual lineups and not the draft mode setting, it
does not apply to us.
After you finish setting up all of your manager material,
pick Team > Export Computer Manager from the menu. Leave the key set to 0
(unlocked) and click OK. Save the .MGR file with an appropriate name and in a location
where you can find it, then browse to that location and email your .MGR file to
me. The .MGR file contains your complete major/minor league list as well as all
of your computer manager settings and lineup information.
In addition, MAKE SURE THAT YOU SUBMIT LINEUPS ASSIGNMENTS!
Unless you are only using the default lineups 1 and 2, I need to know which
lineup to use in which game. So in addition to your .MGR file, make sure you
submit that list on the 24th.
Thanks.
As always, if there are any questions, just ask.
